Dont know anything about Codecs, or technical jargon or if its the type of photo/movie I an trying to import so will need simple explanation. thanks

1. It is best if you FIRST import all the pictures and movies into Windows Movie Maker > then insert them to the Timeline/Storyboard.
2. Windows Movie Maker ONLY accept the following video file formats.....
.asf, .dv-avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
If your movies' file formats are NOT in the list above, Windows Movie maker will not take them.
In that case, you will need to google for a free video converter and use it to do the conversion.
The best video file format to convert to is WMV. It is the best and most reliable for Windows.
What is a file format ?
The file format is represented by the
last 3 letters of the file.
Adding :
No need to buy a video converter. There are many FREE converters which will do the job fine.... unless you are a video buff or something.
I use Prism for video conversion. It does the job for me.
