Try this, but first uninstall all of your old codecs 1st -

codec cleaner : http://www.free-codecs.com/download_...hp?d=460&s=268

new codec pack : Here

Re: Media Center (64bit) (avi) trouble

ok will i thank you for the info but i didn't see anything about code cleaner on the site? as for
the new code pack after downloading it when trying to run it i just get ( unspecified error ) ?
but i did find that i can play mpeg and some others . so it just has to do with (avi) .i tryed uninstalling divx and reinstalling it but no go.
also (avi)'s played fine when i used the 32bit vista
again thank you

Re: Media Center (64bit) (avi) trouble

I would highly advise using KLC Codec pac. It will have anything and everything you will ever need.

Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Re: Media Center (64bit) (avi) trouble

I have installed the vista codec packages and can watch avi files in media center but now everytime i try to do anything in dvd maker or video maker they crash. posts on other forums have suggested that this is do to the codec package. I uninstalled the codec package i was able to use video maker again. Is there any way i can have both?

Re: Media Center (64bit) (avi) trouble

I assume you have the COM error, its caused by either Nero 7.7 or the FFD Show codec.

Uninstall your codecs and start again, use codec cleaner then install Vista Codec Pack and Vista x64 codec.
Try making media player 64 your default player otherwise, you have to click 'Programs\VistaCodecs\64bit Tools\Set Default Media Player' after installing the codec packs.
If you get the Com error when generating thumbnails try updating your ffs show codecs.
Media usees either 32 bit or 64 bit codecs and the player, whichever you have as the default, you need 64bit codec for the 64but player

If this doesnt work try the
