Hi Barb and Welcome to the Forums
The indexing Service used by Vista is for the Search box`s in the start-menu and all explorer windows and you can already find your email from them

However the Outlook Search is different and way less effective without entering the proper email tags and does not use the more enhanced and better Vista Indexing feature
You can find your e-mail from the start-menu and explorer Windows already since you have added them to the Indexing Service

I also suggest you try using Windows Live Mail Desktop...
