PowerPoint problems with Vista Home Basic

    Hi,

I'm running Vista Home Basic on a brand new Acer Aspire PC. Recently, a friend sent me a Microsoft Office 2007 PowerPoint presentation, and for some weird reason, I can't open and run it with my Office '97 PowerPoint software. (The presentation was saved in '97 through 2003 format to mesh with my older PowerPoint software.)

I'm wondering if PowerPoint '97 isn't compatible with Vista. That would be rather strange, though, because all of my other Office '97 components run perfectly fine in the Vista environment.

Any assistance/advice you folks could share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Mark1950, and welcome to the forums.

According to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...2097&os=32-bit you need to upgrade as that is too old - and according to Please Verify your Location it iw well out of the development support lifecycle.

Thanks much John. But I'm still wondering why the PowerPoint component of my Office '97 software is dysfunctional and the other elements--Word, Excel, etc.--aren't. Guess I should be happy that all I have to upgrade is PowerPoint!

    Best,
