Vista - MS outlook

I'm using vista home premium and windows mail. I also have installed MS office. However, I would like to use MS outlook as my default email system, but every time I try to use it a box appears asking for my 'network password' with my username and password already filled in and no matter if I click OK or cancel it just keeps reappearing. An error message says "my email server rejected my login".
Am I missing something, please help it's driving me mad !!!

Hi, pgiow, and welcome to the forums.

Apparently you've already set up an account in Outlook, and it is trying to access your email on that account. If this is the wrong account, or if you are not sure, you need to go to the Tools menu and then select options and from there go to the accounts tab, and verify that the account listed is the account for your mail server. Then you'll need to make sure all the settings are correct, and finally double check your login name and password to successfully connect to your mail server to get your mail.

After that you can make Outlook your default.
