Vista - Outlook 2007 repeatedly installs and configures

To All,

Just installed Outlook 2007 today. Seems that when opening Outlook or when sending messages that Windows installer is repeatedly running before things are done. States gathering necessary information or configuring Outlook in notification boxes and then things will finally process once all this stops. Is this a none issue with Outlook and Vista that one has to live with? Please advise if there is any solution or just something to live with.

Not at all - I have Outlook on a dozen machines running Vista and none of them are doing this.

Have you tried performing a repair?

BTW, I moved this to the Microsoft Office forum.

John-thanks for the reply and moving to Office. I ran the Office Diagnostics under Help in Outlook and that did not find anything wrong. I did not see anything with repair. In a post on another forum I saw mention of running Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to try and stop this type of problem but when I tried to run this from Microsoft site I got error message that could not be run.

Just to add-since I am entitled to Microsoft Support I emailed them and will update if they have a solution to this issue.

Hmmm - This seems to point more to a Windows Installer issue rather than an Office issue.

Are there any other programs you have installed recently, particularly after Office, that also exhibit this behavior (it may not last nearly as long, but seeing the popup, even if only for a fraction of a second, will confirm my suspicions)....

I have not installed anything else recently and have not noticed other pop up of install windows but may be missing them. If Microsoft can provide information and solution I will post so if anyone else has this issue it may help them also.

Understandably. I wonder if it is just something wrong with the installer - you could try running Disk Cleanup to clear out your temp files to see if that stops it....

Just to update,

I worked with Microsoft and with remote management the tech manually removed all traces of Outlook and said the install was corrupted. He had me reinstall and things seemed fine when I first opened the program. After opening again the installer loop started running again and have same issue as before. I sent another request and will see if Microsoft has any answer or explanation.
