| Vista Home Premium 32bit | [Update] Word crashes on open... [crashes on close now] Hiya, Word 2007 (on vista 32 bit) crashed this morning. It won't open again without crashing. It opens the window, I can see that it is asking me to open the recued document, on the left side, but then it crashes... looks for a problem... nothing... then it says "An Unknown error has occured" - but the litle window has "Endnote x1" in the header. - I have Endnote X1, obviously, and they don't work wonderfully together, but never this kind of problem. I've installed all the recent service packs, in the last few days. Word updates itself I'm pretty sure. Explorer crashes all the time, I think that it adobe related though *sigh*. Any ideas? I can't even get in to check on anything like add-ins. Last edited by schnauzer; 02-16-2009 at 03:04 PM.. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Word crashes on open, trying to 'rescue' a doco from first crash Ok, so i've 'repaired' office. And Removed Endnote - that made a change. Its back to nearly working, crashes when I try to close, or when I try to remove the endnote add-ins. I've removed them from their folder, but somehow they appear in the active add-ins??? Any idea how I can delete them, or show Word they are deleted??? |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Word crashes on open, trying to 'rescue' a doco from first crash Ok, I get that I am talking to myself, but I'll keep going just in case someone can help, or this helps someone else! I've uninstalled Office, and Endnote, and re-installed Office - same problem, and it can still see the add-ins - so they never uninstalled by the looks of it. Anyone know how to REALLY uninstall addins?? please? |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Word crashes on open, trying to 'rescue' a doco from first crash To continue my monologue... This site helped, I opened word using its instructions and - woohoo, no crashing. Definitely the add-ins/templates causing the trouble Add-ins...One of Word's Most Common Problems At least I can work on it, but its no solution.... |

| Windows Xp Pro SP2 | Re: Word crashes on open, trying to 'rescue' a doco from first crash In Microsoft Windows, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office Diagnostics. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Word crashes on open, trying to 'rescue' a doco from first crash You may experience several problems after you install an automatic update for Word 2007 on a Windows Vista-based computer This is the problem, and solution, caused by the VISTA SERVICE PACK. Great, thanks Vista. Thanks MDSOS I tried that, nothing came up though. All fixed now. |
