| vista basic | Windows Mail HELP, HELP!!! Windows Mail is acting crazy - is it the full moon? Problems: 1. I have lost my created folders in mail - and the most recent emails I wanted to keep; 2. I have also got a "recovered messages" folder now, that has subfolders of numbers, dont know where THAT has come from; 3. I cant delete the "recovered messages" folder, and when I delete the numbered subfolders, everytime I get a new email, it creates another subfolder number!!! I have tried to restore computer to another time everything was working properly - it wont even do that! I've tried to import my created folders from my external harddrive where I copied them originally and frequently try to backup the emails to that (that I want to keep). I'm at wit's end with this mess - WHAT on this earth did I do wrong and HOW do I fix it without having to do another destructive reformat on a 2 yr old computer??? I'm not THAT stupid am I? Thanks |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Mail Hello Catsears, You can do Problem Two in the tutorial below to reset Windows Mail back to default, but I would only restore the backups from your external drive though and not any of the current Windows Mail. Windows Mail problems Hope this helps, Shawn |

The ones from the past month for example? And I talked to the HP people, they're telling me I have a VIRUS and have to reformat the whole computer again (5 times already in 2 yrs)!! IS that possible? Gosh, I hope there's no virus, or I'm in big trouble. Thanks for your help, I'm at wits end with this thing. Is there anyway to "restore or repair" Windows Mail without having to do the whole machine again? catsears I would recommend that you give the "PROBLEM TWO" option a try to reset Windows Mail to see if that can help first before having to do a clean reinstall of Vista again. |
