| Vista Home Premium Home 32 bit | Windows Mail Attachment Lost Hi, I opened an attachment on Windows Mail and began working on it for a few hours...Pressing SAVE at regular intervals. When I wanted to forward the altered attachment, I closed my document and could not find it anywhere on my computer. I realize that I could been a lot smarter and pressed SAVE AS and I would have avoided this problem, but I was wondering If the saved file is somewhere on my computer...and therefore recoverable. I find it strange that If I was saving all that time to nowhere, that it would not just prompt me to save it on my hard drive...Does anybody know where opened windows mail attachments are saved to by default? Much thanks to anyone who could help... |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Mail Attachment Lost I don't know where it may have been saved, but I found one a while back for a friend by searching for files on the particular date of modification. It's worth a try. |

If it hasn't been too long since you lost the file, check your "Recent Docs" list in Word, and also check your Recent Items list in the Vista Start menu. It may still be there. If it is, just do a Save As and save it to the location you need. 2. Do an Advanced Search of your entire computer. Press the Windows key with the F key. That brings up the Search page - click the Advanced Search button to the far right to open the set up screen. In the next screen check: the Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files option. Under Location, select Computer or Everywhere, and in the Name box, fill in the name of the file you’re looking for, or some text from within the file. (After this first search is completed, if it was unsuccessful, do additional searches for any other key words you think might be associated with that file.) Run the search, and wait patiently while your hard drive chatters away. It may take a long while, depending on how much work there is to do. |
