| Vista Home Premium X64 | outlook wont take pop settings ?? I was using windows mail, then loaded outlook when I installed office 2003 ( wanted word) windows mail was working fine. I lost all my contacts and mail that was in win. Mail ( I thought it would transfer over with the install ) losing the info was no biggie as it’s a new computer. The problem is at first I could recieve, mail with outlook but not send. Windows did a self analysis I suspect and it told me I needed to install updates. So I did a full updates install and now I can’t send or receive ?? I have a business mail account threw yahoo and used there auto configure to set up outlook just as I did for windows mail. I also tried a manual install of the settings ( although they were showing as correct) but still no mail. Any ideas as to what could be the problem ?? This is a bran new computer but it has all the updates installed and has trend as my virus protection. Running Vista 64bit. Thanks for any help James |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: outlook wont take pop settings ?? Hi fun4now, Looks like you're going to have to setup your e-mail account(s) manually through Outlook. I would suggest you go back to Yahoo and find the instructions for configuring Outlook 2003. And before anyone tells you otherwise, Office 2003, as well as Outlook 2003 IS compatible with Vista x64 - Follow this link Windows Vista Compatibility Microsoft Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and hit the 64-bit tab. I also know this because I used Office 2003 (which included Outlook 2003) with Vista x64 for awhile before upgarding to 2007. And updating to office 2003 should not have had any affect on Windows mail. So something flaky is going on there. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: outlook wont take pop settings ?? While pacinitaly "might" have a fix, I would do as I suggested earlier and check with yahoo to see if they in fact do have procedures to configure Outlook with Yahoo first! Especially since you said yahoo let you "auto configure" at first. If that doesn't work, "then" you may want to give pacinitaly's fix a try. Start with the simple. |

| VISTA home prem 32bit SP2 --- XP Pro SP3 32bit | Re: outlook wont take pop settings ?? I have to ask... fun4now, is your acct w/ yahoo a paid acct? If not, that may be why you can't get mail. In outlook (2002), I have verizon fios that gives me the ability to access my gmail and the verizon.net site. (pop access info ) I used to use ypops to get yahoo but it no longer works. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: outlook wont take pop settings ?? Based on his post, I "think" he has a paid yahoo account, thus the reason I suggested he goes to yahoo and get the info he needs to configure outlook ![]() But yeah, your question is right on point. |
