Slipstream SP1 & SP2 into Office 2007

Hello all.

I'm wondering if vLite can be used in the same way in this tutorial to slipstream SP1 & SP2 into Office Home and Student 2007 and create an installation disk.

Could I follow the tutorial doing the exact same steps to accomplish this?

Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD

Thanks.

The tutorial describes installation of windows vista whereas you asked for office 2007 installation. I doubt it will work.

Yes, I'm aware of what the tutorial says; I just want to know if vLite will do it.

Re: Slipstream SP1 & SP2 into Office 2007

Hi Ted,

Try copying the Office installation files onto your desktop - browse to it with vlite and see if it will pick them .

If it does, you could probably slipstream Sp1, then pick the files up again and slipstream SP2.

Otherwise it can be done manually:

Copy the office files into folder named, e.g. Office 2007

Copy Office SP1 files into a folder named, e.g. Office SP1

Extract the Office Sp1 files into a folder named , e.g. Office SP1EXTRACTED.

Copy the .msp files from Office SP1EXTRACTED into the Updates folder in the Office 2007 files, burn to cd.

It should install the updates from that folder as you are installing Office .

Hi SIW2,
I don't think you need the SP1 files!
Installed just with the SP2 files, and works fine!

Hi woebetide,

Thanks for the update.

Did you use vlite, or do it manually?

I don't have MS Office - just an educated guess that it could be done that way.

The easy way
Run
office2007sp2-kb953195-fullfile-en-us.exe /extract:<path to your office folder\updates>

Hi woebetide,

Yes exactly, the manual way. Don't think vlite will do it - waiting for someone who has MS Office to try it out of interest.

Hello all.

I'm sorry I haven't responded to all your nice replies but I've been very busy of late.
I still haven't had time to give this a go but I will very soon; again my apologies.

I'll be sure to post back with the outcome.
