Vista - Office 2007 SP2 - Thumbnail Generation Problem

Windows Ultimate x86 SP1
Office 2007 Professional SP2

Core2Duo T7200 @ 2.00GHZ
2.0GB RAM

How to reproduce the problem:
1. Create a word document with some text on the first page.
2. Save it in a folder somewhere (not on desktop, you want the thumbnail to start generating when you open a folder), make sure 'Save Thumbnail' is checked
4. Make sure Windows Explorer generates thumbnails for files (there is some option in 'Folder Options' for this)
3. Browse to the folder
4. Make sure the current view shows thumbnails of files
5. See what happens

In my PC (and on some other PCs I checked) the RAM and CPU usage shoot up to 100% for about 10 seconds, and after that the thumbnail generated is blank (sometimes it doesn't even generate), unlike pre-SP2 when the thumbnail reflects the first page. RAM usage shooting up causes the superfetch cache to clear and after the problem has passed, the harddisk is running for a long time regenerating the cache.
The extent to which the problem manifests itself depends on the system; for some people the RAM usage increased significantly, but not to 100%.

Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes?

I have tried to make the problem that you had mentioned but my RAM or CPU still not shoot up to 100%.

Yes, I have the thumbnail icon problem on Word documents. It's OK with .doc files but with .docx files, all the thumbnails are blank. It takes a few seconds for the blank icons to generate. Just after installation of SP2, this seemed to be intermittent. A day or so after, it appears to affect all new files and edited files in the .docx format.
