Can't type in word 2007

*sigh* I'm over Microsoft already too many problems (from office mainly). First problem is I cant open anything unless I run as admin but I can live with that for now

ANYWAY When i open word theres no line blip thing and when I type there is nothing. The only way I can type is if I open a template or an existing document. I tried highlighting but nothing is highlighted. I tried going on print preview to see if anything is even there but there's nothing. So yeah I hope someone can help me..

From your description, it sounds like there may have been a corruption during your downloading of Office. I'd try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. Or, just call Microsoft tech support - 866 452 4755 - that's exactly what they're there for.

Hi, I've got a genuine copy of office so there was no downloading. this problem occured after a technician from microsoft was fixing it for another problem through remote assistance. before that there wasn't a problem.

Then definitely call Microsoft back -- I hope you still have your case number. I would let them know exactly what happened -- that the technician caused the problem, and ask for someone in a supervisory (or however they refer to their higher level) to assist you.

Pardon me for doing this...but what he said. You shold also make sure things are fully working before ending the call.

Good luck

Yeah I should this time.. but last time I called they made me wait 2 hours before someone answered. And the problem that the technician was trying to fix came back immediately after I turned UAC on.. I think the best thing to do is just reformat my pc and pray the next time I install office it works ..

That, and don't turn UAC off...then back on again after your issue has been troubleshot (fixed) by tech support. They probably never even noticed it was turned off and thus never really "fixed" the problem in the first place since Office is supposed to work with UAC on.

And I wouldn't turn off UAC anyway. Though it's nagging, it a nice safety feature to have. But that's another debate for another time.

Good luck on getting Office working again.

Here's a suggestion for you, one that I think you'll really appreciate in the future. Don't worry about the short term. Do whatever you can to fix the problem correctly, so that your problem is solved and so that you won't have it again. When this problem is "history," it won't matter (very much) that you spent 2 hours or 4 hours or 6 hours on the phone with tech support -- you'll be so happy to have your computer working properly.

I had a similar dilemma when I got my first laptop, last November. It had a lot of similar bugs, and I was on the phone with tech support a lot! I knew in my heart that I should exchange the laptop for a new one -- but I didn't have the heart to spend all that time and energy doing what it took to get the replacement, and then to have to wait, God knows how long, to get the new one. Well, I made myself do it --- and I am SO HAPPY that I did. Problems solved! Now, 6 months later, I could care less that I had some problems with the first computer. I now have one that works great!!! And I'm so glad I bit the bullet and took the time to fix the problem completely. I would suggest the same for you. Fix your problems completely, the right way, (rather than some hopeful "workaround") and once it's working the way it should be, you will be so happy that you did!

The technician Turned my UAC off while trying to find a solution for the problem. After I disconnected with him from remote assistance (he was still on the phone) I restarted my computer, it worked fine. I asked him about UAC he said don't worry turn it back on and it should work. So I eventually hung up, turned on UAC and BAM its not working properly again (I should have done it while he was still on the phone lol but I was tired because he was working for over 3hours straight (thank god he called me and I didnt get a huge phone bill lol)). I'm all for UAC, thats why I keep it on and thats why I'm having this problem. If I was certain that I would never be attacked by viruses and trojans etc. I would turn it off. Also I'm thinking about backing up my files and Formatting my PC.. I really don't want to but if there isn't any other solution, i guess i'll have to
