Re: Code 57E Microsoft Updates headache's

Disable any spyware programs in the background, trust me it has happend to me.
Try installing one at a time.
They may not all install but 1 or 2 may. I have found that tring to install a bulk load of updates can fail.

Re: Code 57E Microsoft Updates headache's

Hi roy69,

I right click and disable PC tools spyware doctor, also, G-Data, monitor and PrevX 3.0
Edge. Still would not install the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2.

So, I did not try to install Security Update for Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 (KB957789)
(III.) Security Update for Mcirosoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for X64
based System (KB954430). Until, I can install the 1st update.

One at time, the update get about 80%. Any suggestions?

Re: Code 57E Microsoft Updates headache's

Error code 57E is related to permission.
Try inserting the office cd before trying to update the software.
Try downloading the update to office manually :- Download details: The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Download to desktop before installing. (This will also save you from having to download it again if it fails and is handy for a backup).

Let us know how it went and we will go from there
Look at your event viewer if it does fail again, this may give a bit more info.
