Re: Microsoft Office Professional 2003

Hi riptorn,

Why 2003? 2007 offers A LOT more and also allows people to open the new "x" documents from office which are common these days. He can download the 2007 version from Microsoft Product Information Center - Trial Software. It also allows you to save your files in old office extensions in case he needs to.

P.S. Been to Malaysia a couple of times... LOVE KL (not so much Terenganu or west Malaysia). Petronas Towers ROCK (had meetings in middle floors).

Cheers!

Re: Microsoft Office Professional 2003

Well again... tell him to start loving the way every toolbar is showed up in 2007 as it is the new "wave". It took me a couple of weeks to get around that but after I did... well it's impossible for me to goback now... I just love it!

Anyway, I think that he can get a copy of Office 2003 only from torrents now... MS is not offering it anymore so legally, he can't download it from anywhere. That's how badly they want us to move on. Besides, he won't be able to read like 30% of Office documents aout there which are made with the newer extensions. To prove it, get him the 2003, then make a .DOCX and send it to him and after he calls you saying that he couldn't open it, tell him "I told you" and send him the lik to download the 2007 edition

You obviously never heard of the compatibility pack

2003 is far from dead my friend.

Re: Microsoft Office Professional 2003

No prob, the ribbon was a horrible move by MS. I can't even put a number on how many of my users feel like they are starting all over with it (not everyone who uses it is literate). They spent years memorizing how to do things with menus, then MS pulls the switcharoo. And people talk about Linux being foreign...

Tell your friend to check out OpenOffice.org It's compatibility with office is pretty good and has the interface we're all used to. I'm all about change, but when I gotta give classes on how to change margin sizes, I'm not a fan.

Hehe... yes it's true... you can go there but... it's easier just to go with the flow.

I hear you... it's true but... it also helps to impress your boss by actually knowing how to do stuff when your company switches. Hey, I was able to teach my 68 years old dad how to use it... is not that unfriendly :P
