Office 2010

I was invited to download the Office 2010 preview from Connect. Not too impressed so far. It has no stationery at all & the only wizard I've found thus far is the envelope wizard.

Office 2007 was bad enough with its plethora of already-written forms and hardly any decent smart-looking templates for business or personal letters, but this one has none at all, meaning not even one.

Generally I see little difference from Office 2007 except a much plainer "look". Which isn't always a good thing.

Perhaps I'm being impatient. I only installed it 5 minutes ago but do NOT like it, sorry!!

Thought that I would post this as an FYI.

Re: Office 2010

Merci beaucoup Peter for doing the groundwork / footslog with Office 2010.
I will happily happily stay with the 2007 version.

Re: Office 2010

You're welcome. I did find some templates after a search but I still didn't like it too much...back on 2007 myself.

Re: Office 2010

I just grabbed a copy from connect myself although I've not had chance to install it yet.

Re: Office 2010

I happened to mention I didn't think too highly of it on the MVP Office NG and was immediately castigated by some cow that I shouldn't even be talking about it due the my NDA. That was after I'd read about 6 other threads about it.

I think I was quite rude in return.

Yesterday wasn't one of my better days shall we say.

I'm sure your shoulders are broad.
Some find it easier to complain than give a thumbs up - or just keep quiet.

Of course. She actually more or less apologised later anyway.

When I went to the connect site to downoad. It said that I didn't have to abide by any NDA as the technical preview was already (made public?) or something like that.

I am happy with the outlook component of Office 2010. I like the ribbon, although it is a bit hard getting around at first. But what i really like is the way it handles my gmail. I didn't have to download a single message, but i have all my headers and the messages are fully searchable. i know you can do that at gmail's website, but it is nice to not have to bring up my browser when i'm reading email.

I haven't had a chance to play with the other components yet. But I think i'll be happy with them.

Snarks, is the Office 2010 ribbon the same as the 2007 ribbon, or has MS changed it again? If so, in what ways, do you know?
Thanks.

Imperfect1,

Outlook 2007 does not have the ribbon like word or excel. Outlook 2010 does. It looks the same as the ribbon in word 2007, except the commands are different of course.
