Vista - Need help with setting default to open email powerpoint attachment

Although I thought I had set PowerPointViewer.exe to be my default viewer for PowerPoint material, it isn't working when I try to open and run a PP attachment within Thunderbird 2 (running Vista 64). Specifically, the dropdown menu that appears when I double-click a PP attachment, still asks me what I want to open it with and suggests that I save to file. Furthermore, even after I browse to PPV.exe, the Do this automatically... box remains greyed out. Nonetheless, the attachment does open after I browse to PPV.exe. Can you help me have the dropdown always open PP with PPV.exe? BTW, now that I think about it, could it be that this is a safety procedure...saving as a file?

This may help u

Go to control panel>default programs>associate a filetype or protocol to a program. Highlight ppt and pptx and click change, browse to the PowerPointViewer.exe and give ok.
