Safe to uninstall Microsoft works 8.5?

Microsoft works came pre-installed on my computer but I never use it because I prefer Word Perfect. If this can be uninstalled with out causing any computer problems I would like to do so. I am using Vista Home Premium and I know it can be touchy doing certain things with the Vista. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

I would recommend that you leave Works where it is.

It depends if you need the space, if you dont then do as JMH suggested and leave it there. My laptop came with works and I left it there because I dont use the laptop much. If you do need the space make sure you have the resotre disk handy (just a precaution). I dont think any harm will come from uninstalling works so long as you use the correct method.

Re: Safe to uninstall Microsoft works 8.5?

Hi roy69,
I spent some time earlier today trying to locate a correct [foolproof ] method to uninstall Works from Vista.
From what I read, IMHO there was no simple sraight forward solution.
One of our Vista laptops also has Works on it that is not required. Based on my readings I made the decision to leave it where it was.

Are you aware of a method to uninstall Works from Vista?

Thanks to all who answered. I had a feeling it wouldn't be a simple uninstall so will just leave it on the computer. I don't really need the space but it would have been nice to have it.

Programs and features from the comtrol panel should work jmh.
Works is not an integeral part of the OS so I see no harm in removing it.

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought also, but am so leery of doing anything with the Vista unless I know for sure it's ok.

Personally, as soon as I got the computer, I just went to Programmes and Features in Control Panel and uninstalled Works from there.

Vista didn't falter and the sky didn't fall down so I assume what I did was right.

Yes roy69, if Works is indeed there, that may be so. [ It isn't on my other Vista laptop - & wasn't in the Works / Vista uninstall readings I viewed when researching.]
Thus my generic advice - it it ain't broke don't fix / tamper with it.

I do agree with you that is why I stated to uninstall only if the space is needed.
