MS Office 2007 "Not configured for current user"

I have MS Office 2007 (Student edition installed) on a 6 month old HP Pavilion dv 3510nr. Twice now when opening any of the MS Office applications I get a pop up advising that "MS Office is not configured for current user" . I can proceed no further using the application. There is only one user account set up on my laptop. To get things back to normal I have to use a previous system restore point or else an Acronis disk image.

The installation of MS Office 2007 was a download trial that was activated with a key purchased from MS.

Any ideas what might be causing this, or more importantly can I back up a particular Office 2007 setting that will enable me to get things back to normal without using a SRP or disk image?

Thanks

Kanangus,
Try turning off UAC & see if the problem stops.

You could try Office Diagnostics to see if that helps.

Browse through the link below to see if it provides you with some clues.

Thanks JMH. I have saved the link for future reference so I can give some of the fixes a try next time it happens.
