Registry Key Help/MS Office not uninstalling Help

Hey total newbie to the site but really glad I've found it as I'm in desperate need of some precise Vista knowledge.

I've read the how to ask for help thread so hopefully I'll do this right, sorry if I leave anything out.

Laptop: HP Pavillion dv6000 with Windows Vista (Home I'm presuming)

Problem 1). I tried to uninstall MS Office 2007 Trial Version (which was on my laptop when I bought it) from the 'Programs' section in the Control Panel. When I did this I was given this error message

''Error 1606 could not access network location %APPDATA%\''.

I then tried it again (just for the craic!) and I didn't get the error message again instead all that happens now when I try to uninstall it is the mouse cursor loads and 'windows needs your permission' box comes up to which i press continue and then the cursor loads a bit more and then just nothing.

Problem 2). After googling the above error message I followed the steps here You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program I noticed that my Appdata value didn't have the /roaming in the value section so I followed the steps to change it.

I also noticed that my Personal and Printhood data were slightly different for example it says in the table that it should say /printhood in the 'personal' value data but mine said '/documents'...however because my error code only mentioned AppData I was too afraid to change either of these (in case you haven't guessed already I know nothing about how computers actually work).

Ok and then theres the second Reg Key that the guide asks you to look at...now the entire key was different to mine, their value datas say userprofile where as mine sometimes said public or something different. Again since this was so entirely different I was too afraid to change it cause it would of meant having to change it all and I just wasn't sure.

Another bit of info is that my brother (before I'd found the MS link with the above steps) had run a series of cleaners on my laptop just to see would they solve anything and a Registry clean up or restore (can't remember sorry!) was done and any problems found fixed..apparently.

Sorry that that was so long but you's said you needed details!

Any help that anyone could give me would be much appreciated as I can't install my MS Office 2007 Suite until the trial version is removed ( I didn't buy it through MS directly hence the need to uninstall the Trial)

I came across that before. Was hoping there would be a different solution as that way looks very complex. Thanks anyways though!
