Help with 'Microsoft is not genuine' message?!!

Hi there hope someone can help me?

I have had a message come up saying 'Microsoft is not genuine' etc etc

I’ve got Windows Vista Home premium 2007 (32bit) and have had the computer for a about a yr with no problems before? (The bloke who had it before me had it for a while with no problems too?)

This has only started coming up over the last week or 2 ish? I’ve tried re-entering the windows product key number that’s on the bottom of the computer (which was confirmed as ok) but the message still keeps coming.

So any help would be very very appreciated as it says I’ve only got 4 days left?!!

Thanks
Mart

Hi mart,
Refer to the link below.
You will have to speak to MS about this problem.

Re: Help with 'Microsoft is not genuine' message?!!

You said someone had this before you and you didn't say how Vista got onto the machine. But, if it really says "Vista Home Premium 2007", then it's most likely a hacked (as in pirated) version (because there's no such thing as Vista Home Premium 2007) and whatever "crack" was used to bypass Activation problems has been "undone" through a recent Windows Update.

When that happens, your machine automatically drops into the three-days-to-activate situation, and if not legally activated in that timeframe, will then go into Reduced Functionality Mode.

If you believed you got a genuine install of Vista,as JMH indicated, you need to contact MS to get your copy activated; otherwise, in three days, you'll end up with a machine that will be all but useless.

Cheers for getting back guys!! Yeah I do believe it is a genuine one?! As this just started to happen not long after I had a problem with some internet pop-ups?! which started to happen after upgrading my internet browser to internet browser9!!?? So i might of uninstalled stuff to sort the internet out which in turn may of f***ed my MSO out?????

Hi JMH, I do still have the ‘Operating system – Recovery DVD’ (windows vista Home Premium, Original Fujitsu Siemens disc)

So if the s**t does hit the fan do you thing that just putting that in would sort things out?? I know that doing this will mean I would lose a lot of stuff?! But I don’t really mind that? As long as it sorts the computer out?!

But I will be contacting MS first thing today anyway, so I really hope that it can get sorted today ?!

Many thanks

Cheers
