So this is what I did. I wrote a very important essay due tomorrow. I highlighted all of my documents and dragged them onto the C:\ drive. From the C:\ drive I dragged them into the recycle bin and then deleted them from there. I restarted my computer and noticed that I don't have any documents at all!! Can somebody please help me retrieve them??? I really need them and your help will be highly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

That program didn't work....

It couldn't find the file that I was looking for.

Two ways,

First anything you write to your HD now might overwrite that doc you want back.
If you install anything - try to do it on another partition.

If it has been deleted fro recycle bin , you should easily find it with free Glaryutilities Undelete module.

Or you can use free ShadowExplorer - to look in your shadow copies - if a shadow copy was made before the file disappeared - it will be there to "export". i.e. copy back.

Shadow Explorer works well. Thing is, you have to have the Windows Shadow Copy service enabled.

If you delete something using <shift>-<delete> or through emptying your Recycle Bin, and you turned that service off, you're not getting that doc back.
