Vista - problems downloading updates

hi,

i'm having problems downloading these updates.. i keep getting the 646 error code

Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB951944)
The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 646


any ideas? thankyou

Two things come to my mind -- first, are you getting your updates from a reliable source, i.e. from Microsoft itself, and not from some 3rd party internet source. Second, is your MS Office closed while you are trying to do the downloads?

By "closed" I mean all of the MS Office application is shut down, turned off, no open MS Office programs running, i.e. no open Word docs or Excel docs, etc. When you are doing any MS Office update, it is important that no MS Office application be open and running. That can lead to the possibility (probability) of errors with the download.
