    Deleting Doc. from Word 2007

I am trying to delete unused documents from Microsoft Word 2007.
Everyone says to open word, click on the upper left button, right click on the file I want to delete and click delete.
Right click just gives me a menu about "customized ribbons or something" No Delete in there. If I click on the button to "open", it gives me another list of Docs., but the one I want is not in there. I have tried going to "Computer", User, Docs, but it is not in there either.
    Help..................

I find that the best way to delete Word docs is to do it from within Windows Explorer. In fact, for me, that's the best way to delete any file. Just close the document, open Windows Explorer, find the file, and delete it.

    Thanks Imperfect1,
I tried that. Open explorer, go to docs and it is not in there. Think I looked everywhere and still can't find it. Only when I open ""Word". It's there, I can left click on it and it opens. Right click and only get "something about ribbons", no delete.
    Thanks again

Has to be in there somewhere! Have you done a Search (or an Advanced Search)?

You sure you have saved into your Docs folder?

    Imperfect1 and Shadowjk,
I did a search, plus and expanded search. Put the title into google, they will tell you it's on your computer. I added something to the doc, went back to search "recent changes" and all I got was another "Doc" with same title.
Shadowjk...you might be right. It is not something that I wrote, but an artical out of the newspaper. My girlfriend may have put it in there, but she is gone. Where could I look.
    Thanks guys for your help.

Re: Deleting Doc. from Word 2007

It depends on how you saved the file. Word 2007 adds an (x) to the extension of the file name, Example.docx, other versions of Word saved the file as Example.doc. Look to see how the file was saved, if the file was saved as .docx and you look for it as a .doc file you will not find it and it will not show up if you specify the type of file to look for. Use the star dot star *.* to locate the file. And in the Word title bar at the top, does the file name show up next to Microsoft Word, this is the default setting for the file to be .docx To check your save settings go to the Office button, word options, save, and check the save file in this format and then notice the default file location. That is the directory you want to go to in order to find your file. Also if you are saving your files as .doc you will lose out on some of Word 2007 neat features.

Re: Deleting Doc. from Word 2007

I had the EXACT same questions! I searched and searched, couldn't find an answer. I actually found out how to delete those files BY MYSELF!! Here's what i did:

    Open micro word 2007
Click Office Button @ top left
    Click Open
Make sure under Organize on the left, your Documents are clicked so ALL your documents that are saved are listed on the right side
Right click the document u wish to delete, then click the delete button

**You CANT delete files under Recent Documents. Those documents show up on there because they are "pin". Its a shortcut so you can view them more quickly.

For my own purposes, I deleted those "pin" documents by:

Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options (@ bottom).
    Click Advanced.
under Display, in the Show this number of Recent Documents list, click the number of files that you want to display. If you do not want to display any files, click 0.
    Click OK
