    I don't know where I am in Access 2007!

I don't think that I've used my copy of Access 2007 before & this guide about Converting an Excel Spreadsheet to an Access 2007 Database shows a different picture than what I have which is:

I don't know if I did something to change this screen from the one in the link! How do I get it back?

You are in the templates section. To create a new database you need to start in the Featuring section and then at the top in the middle section you didn't include in your screenshot there will be an icon for Blank Database. Click on that and the screen you see in the link you mentioned will appear on the right side column.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

It's not sophisticated by any means (just something I used to keep track of movies I'd taped), but it is an access database (even if you won't learn a whole lot from how it was developed since it really wasn't) so I hope it helps - at least you'll have data to work with.

The other is old and came from my wife's work files when she was there many years ago so I have no idea what it contains or how developed it is - if it contains anything you shouldn't know, just forget it and think of it as just a database. I didn't even open it to confirm it still works (it may not - when they converted to the new Access, a lot of the older file versions didn't function - if so, sorry about that but those were the only two I could find on our systems.

Also, try: Sample Microsoft Access Databases.

Microsoft Access 2007 tutorials - Free database downloads

Access 2007 databases - Templates - Microsoft Office.

Access 2007 Sample: Ribbon Extensibility in Access 2007 - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com.

Access 2007 Sample: Marketing Projects Database.

I think that should give you plenty to start with. There are loads available on the web.

It's been a while and I just used the basic functions (not the programming macros), but I still may be able to help if you have any basic questions.

    Good luck!

C'mon, pac! It was certainly my pleasure. You'll see that although I have a decent collection of tapes (more since then that haven't yet been recorded), it's nothing like what you have. I also thought it would help for you to see more fully developed databases to play with (and templates as well) since you would then learn a great deal more than with the simple one I slapped together - hence the links I researched.

And while I'm here to help "people", it's MUCH more satisfying to help a friend.

Enjoy the experience - you should find it an interesting and, if fully used, challenging program (almost as good in SQL in many ways - and an excellent stepping stone to SQL if you decide to pursure this further).
