The trick in that tutorial Richard provided is to
uncheck the box to use Microsoft Update and it will then only use Windows Update and supplemental products (like Office and Windows Expressions and other Microsoft product updates besides Windows) will not be downloaded or installed or presented. I don't recommend this as those updates can be important for a variety of reasons, but the decision is yours.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
P.S. If you got the disk via a torrent and it didn't ask for a product key and it indicates that it is activated, then you most likely obtained an illegal copy which included a keygen that provided a way to illegally bypass the activation process. In all likelihood, it is probably not recognized as genuine even if it works and doesn't ask for the activation code.
For more information on this (and possibly how to fix it so you can use your valid product key to activate the product and make it genuine if it isn't - and also to confirm whether or not it is genuine and if you can actually do anything to resolve the problem if it isn't), go to
Office Genuine Advantage Validation Issues (Office) Forum. Post the problem and they will request you run a program and send them the results and they will analyze this information and tell you the situation and your options.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
