Yes I am thinking about doing that. Just thought I would try to figure this out if I could. Thanks for the reply

Also, that might mean a permission problem. Run your program as an administrator (right click, Run as Administrator, then allow the UAC prompt that comes up) and see if that fixes it.
@richc46, I heard that OpenOffice doesn't support the new Office 2010 files. Is this true? Or was that already fixed?
In 2010 Open office became compatible with Office 2007. They are working on 2010, now.
In the meantime, I think this workaround would solve the problem
You will need to save the office files with the encoding of the older versions ( as simple as selecting save as and selecting the file type ).
If you just save without changing the file type, then you will have an incompatibility problem

Ok that's what I thought. So as long as he doesn't already have any 2010 files he needs to use (and it sounds like he doesn't, since he's just now getting the trial) then OpenOffice sounds like it'll work great if he can't fix his key error.
Thanks everybody for the help. I think that I am going to download the OpenOffice Suites since that is suppose to work almost a good as Microsoft 2010. Maybe after the 60 day trial is up Microsoft might send me a survey and maybe then I can express the difficulty I had with their product, which resulted in my not wanting to use it.
