Re: word(.doc) or PDF
In Microsoft works does it give you the option to save it as..... a doc or pdf file?
If it does then send it to a friend to see if it opens for them.

This is a problem that I have seen before. The advice that I gave was to download and use the free open office. Its the same as word, except that its free. http://www.openoffice.org/ wps file attachments

Re: word(.doc) or PDF
If you tell my what format you saved it as to begin with I'll find you a converter. But either way I recommend you follow Rich's idea and get Open Office. Very cool programs for free.
Wait, just save it as word 97-2003(doc). That's what they want, isn't it?

Portable 320 GB used for separate storage of media, plugged into USB port as needed. Internet Speed ~150 kilobytes/sec DL Other Info Usually have low HD free space left (<10 GB), often left on overnight. I really push its capabilities.
May I suggest, if it works or not, make a system restore point and then try open office.
If not liked you can system restore to remove it.
Same as Office 2010 which costs, but has a lot of features.
