    Double click... twice!

My PC runs Vista Premium 2007.

When I want to open a brand new page,it is ok, BUT double clicking an existing icon brings out a window saying:<<Windows cannot find "......doc" Make sure you typed the namecorrectly and then try again>> (Note: it doesn’t say<<docx>>!).

And it shows only the <frame>with some icons (but not all). This frame background is the usual blue colour. The <white> page, the one we work upon does not appear.

Then when I double click the icon I'vejust clicked before, the <white page> where we can work upon opens! Everytime!

My technician doesn't know why...Please, help!!! And remember to be specific please: I don't know computing thatwell!!! hahaha!

    Tanks in advance!

    Re: Double click... twice!

    Welcome,
I really dont know the cause, and neither does the technician that you worked with. I am willing to try and find out, though
    Make a clean boot
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If the problem does not occur, follow the clean boot procedure to find the cause.

If clean boot does not help, try with another browswer.

    Re: Double click... twice!

Just download Firefox. If it work, post and I will show you how to set it up so that is the one that you always use.
You can also try to repair Word
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...010357402.aspx
I doubt if a repair will work, however.

The very best advice that I can give you about the computer is not to do anything unless you feel confident. The advice that I gave is very simple and you may be able to get a friend to help. Its something so easy, you only have to give a thank you to your helper and nothing more.

    Re: Double click... twice!

    Hi!
I got to the point <e>->click OK and then click Restart.
It did not work... but I don't know how to continue witk step 2: Enable half of the services. (I don't understand it, and I feel uneasy continue! hahaha!
I undo what I did in the preceding steps and all is well...I mean, as before.
(Time is different: You are in US and I am in Brisbane, Australia: the time we sleep is different, but apparently it works fine!)

You disabled all services and still had the problem?

    Re: Double click... twice!

If disabling all did not work, clean boot is not the answer. Try the other suggestions.
