Vista - Blank screen or just background showing upon login

Hi, I have ans issue with xp i think. I just built a pc and installed xp.
Well a couple days after i installed xp i started having this issue. If i
reboot my pc i get all the way to the login screen, after i type in my
password and hit enter i see the mouse cursor and can move it but i have
nothing else. No taskbar desktop icons or anything. If i hit ctrl alt del it
will bring up the task manager after a few minutes, sometimes explorer.exe
will be running other times it will not be. I have tried going to file and
new task and manualy starting explorer, it starts but nothing comes up.
