Can anyone tell me how to stop Windows Malicious SW Removal Tool from
continuing to update. So far it has update 12 times (and am still counting).

C/windows/debug/mrt.log contained the error: "Security policy doesn't allow for all actions MSRT may require". I found that mrt.exe was being extracted to and run from a NAS drive (in my case a NetGear SC101, drive G. When I dismounted the drive and ran MSRT again, it completed successfully and the continuous requests for updates is gone. I don't know why that drive was picked as the target for mrt.exe but mrt.exe won't run from there on my system (Vista Ultimate 32bit).
