Web Pages Opening Small in Windows XP

I'm not exactly sure how to state this problem. One of my students emailed
me that when she tries to open a web page through IE it opens small and she
has to hit the maximize button to make it the correct size. I know I've seen
this on other puters but don't know what causes it. I'm sure it's some
setting....but have looked at all of mine and can't figure out what it could
be. I've had great luck in the past with questions and am hoping someone out
there can give me a clue. THanks in advance!!

Let me start by saying this is completely the wrong place to ask. It's like
questions asking about Battlestar Galactica at a Star Trek convention. Good
chance somebody will know the answer, but nobody wants to be bothered with
it.

That said: try resizing the window manually (by grabbing the sides) rather
than maximizing it. That should help. But please do take similar questions
elsewhere next time. Thanks!

Re: Web Pages Opening Small in Windows XP

Well, I entered the query under "General Questions".....it seemed to me that
it's a pretty general quesiton.....not at all sure what Martin's problem
is.....why is this an inappropriate place for that question?

Re: Web Pages Opening Small in Windows XP

I still don't know why this is the wrong place, and I found your reply to be
pretty snippy....but THANK you for giving me the answer I needed, Martijn! I
tried what you suggested and it worked like a charm....it was not a problem
I'd ever had personally, so didn't have a clue as to how it could be fixed.

Re: Web Pages Opening Small in Windows XP

I don't know what mechanism you used to post, but ultimately this is the
microsoft.public.dotnet.general newgroup (usenet if you like) which means
the subject is general questions about the .NET framework, primarly
programming questions. Your question is about Internet Explorer, and there
is actually a microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup if
whatever interface you're using offers some way into that.

Re: Web Pages Opening Small in Windows XP

Oooooooooooopsss Sorry....I just found English and General Questions....have
no idea how I ended up in this area. Thanks for pointing out the error of my
ways without being nasty about it. Will try to do better in the future. I
really LOVE the discussion groups...cuz they're so helpful...but it is
sometimes difficult to find the correct group.

I had no intentions to be snippy. A bit witty maybe :-)
