Need XP SP2 home edition

I never got around to installing service pack 2 on my computer, and now I
have to have it to install one of the programs I need for my new Sony Digital
Media Player. I have been all over the Microsoft site and it keeps sending
me to SP3 when I try to find a place to download SP2. The techie at my
school sent us a notice in May that we should not download SP3 since it has
major conflicts with Microsoft programs. Am I out of luck, or is there
someplace I can still get SP2?

Re: Need XP SP2 home edition

You'd be much better off going to SP3; disregard the echie at the school

Re: Need XP SP2 home edition

I'd do that if not for the post elsewhere in this group about someone who had
MAJOR problems with SP3. I really can't afford to have my computer crash,
and it would be just my luck if I disregard the warning. Are you using SP3
on your computer? If so, did you have any problems when you first installed
it?

There's risk associated with installing *any* major patch to an OS. That
risk is no higher with SP3 than it would be with SP2. TO mitigate the risk,
make an image of your OS partition using reliable software. Here's one that
works well:

If you really feel you must go with SP2, here it is:
