Dual partition

Would it be better to keep the partitions and have booting properly again
then resize? thanks for previoushelp

You need software that will make and restore an image of the entire
partition. One (free) option is utilities supplied by most major hard drive
manufacturers. Got to your hard drive maker's web site and look for a
downloadable imaging utility. There are also several commercial choices. One
I use (and like) is Acronis True Image.
