| | Silverlight I have been trying to install Silverlight KB955305for some time but keep getting Error 0x5DF. It downloads OK but will not install. Every other MS and Windows Updates install OK except this one. I run XP Pro SP3 with all current updates installed. I'm not completely computer literate but I saw another post somewhere where someone else had the exact same problem but I can't find it again. |

| | Re: Silverlight If you have an older Athlon CPU Silverlight will not install. The CPU must support the entire multimedia extensions or something. I forgot the exact rdetails but that was the context I discovered with an XP Pro machine I had that Silverlight would not install on. If this may be pertinent you may be able to upgrade the BIOS that will install the multimedia extensions. I missed by one rev release. | Vista Business 32-bit | Re: Silverlight I run Vista Business and I have the same issue with KB957938. It always shows as available for install, but it will never actually install...quite frustrating as I want the Windows Update Icon to go away! I even uninstalled Silverlight, hoping it would take the update with it to oblivion, but it is still sitting there. Even when I uncheck the box in the "Available Updates" window, there is no way to make it go away! |
