700 MB CDRW is recognized as "illegal"

I cannot record to new Sony 700 MB CD's because windows XP gives an error
message "illegal disc). I have no problems with 650 MB discs. I am using XP
Home 32 bit. I get the same message when attempting to record with my Nero 8.
I was able to record to one of these CD's on another computer thats running
XP 64 bit, using Nero 7. I then erased the CD, and attempted to record on the
problem computer- same message. Both computers are using identical burners.
Any Suggestions?

How old is the CD burner?
I had an old burner which would only burn 650Mb disks and I had to
purchase a new burner to enable me to burn to the 700Mb ones.
CD/DVD burners are cheap enough to replace these days anyway.

Have you checked with Sony tech support?

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-contacts.pl?

You also might consider posting your question in an applicable Windows XP
discussion group, as this is a .NET programming group.
Here's how to find one.

As you appear to be using a web interface, start here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.aspx

In the tree on the left, first open the English category, then open Windows.
In Windows, find and open the category for Windows XP, then
locate a group to post in.
