DPM tape backups: what is stored on tape?!

Hi,

I'm having trouble with planning my protection groups and schedules for tape
backups with DPM 2007.

Indeed, refering to the documentation here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb808677.aspx
if your data is short term disk-protected and long term tape-protected, the
content copied on the tape is in fact the last replica stored on the DPM
server disk.

It should be okay since the replica is supposed to be in sync with the
protected server, but after doing some tests, I found out what was copied on
the tape was in fact the last full backup done on disk. And regarding our
current organization, that's not good at all!

We are doing full backups once a week, on Thursday on disk and on Thursday
on tape. It means the content copied on tape on Thursday is dated from
Thursday! How come we cannot do a tape backup directly using data from the
protected server?

From what I understood, it is recommended to do disk full backups each day.
In this case, would planning a weekly tape backup right after the daily disk
backup solve my issue?

Thanks and Regards,

-TheNewITGuy.
