| Vista x86 | strange problem with .net 1.1 sp1 update okay im running XP on a dell laptop. automatic updates has downloaded the .net framework 1.1 service pack 1 update and the little window pops up asking me to install the update. so i click install... it works for a min. then says install complete. then i go to reboot the computer and the restart button has a little note that says click here to finish installing updates or something along those lines. so i click it and the computer starts shutting down then it says installing updates do not shut down blah blah so i let it do it's thing then it says completed and restarts. finally after the desktop loads i get the little windows update popup bubble again telling me updates need to be installed so i click it and its the same exact update! so i go through the process again and it yields the same result. so i tried updating to xp sp3 and the problem persists... what should i do? |

Have you checked the log files and the Windows Event Log for details? These might give you ideas why this is happening. On the other hand, do you specifically have .NET 1.1 applications that you need? Or is it that you just want to keep your system up to date with the latest patches? In my opinion, if you just happen to want to keep your system with the latest patches installed (always good, of course), I might simply ignore the patch, and mark it so that Windows won't prompt for it again. I guess this wouldn't hurt much if you didn't have any .NET 1.1 applications that you require. -- Regards, Jani Järvinen C# MVP Vantaa, Finland janij@xxxxxx |
