I have AVG Firewall and every so often it tells me that .Net Runtime Optimization Service wants to connect to the internet and asks me if I should allow it.
Should I?
I looked it up on google but the answers were less than satisfactory, no one really explained exactly what it is and what it does. One site said it was necessary and I should allow it, another said I should block it, but none really explained what it is or WHY. One site said this, for example:
---------------------------------
"Process File Name: mscorsvw or mscorsvw.exe
Process Name: .NET Runtime Optimization Service
Description:
The mscorsvw.exe process is a component of Microsoft .NET Framework. While this process is not essential, it should only be stopped or disabled if it is suspected to be the cause of system problems.
Recommendation for mscorsvw.exe:
This process should never be disabled or stopped, as it is necessary for certain applications to perform correctly. " [emphasis mine]

Thanks for any light you can shed on the .Net Runtime Optimization Service.
