Vista - What are the disadvantages of unsafe build option when the codecontains no unsafe code? why is it not enabled by default?

What are the disadvantages of unsafe build option when the code contains
no unsafe code? why is it not enabled by default?

The option just allows unsafe code to compile and does nothing else. There
is no safety issue if you have no unsafe code. And, I would imagine that the
worst with having it so you can compile unsafe code is you slow down the
compiler a few milliseconds, which is not a big deal.
