At the risk of bending newsgroup etiquette and supplying an answer to an
off-topic question, realistically: no.

"Windows Vista recommended system requirements":
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...uirements.aspx

Really, it's new laptop time.

If you have any further questions, you should find a more appropriate
newsgroup - this is microsoft.public.dotnet.general, which deals with the
..NET framework.

Thank you.

There is not much you can do with a 15GB HDD, 64 to 512MBs of RAM and a 566MHz processor.. Vista would require 30 to 40GBs of disk and 2GBs of RAM. You can try downloading the free Windows7 RC. That may work on such a system in a very basic setting. Eventually you may consider buying a new PC. Nowadays they come with 250GB and more disk space, 2 or more Gigahertz processors and 2 and more Gigabytes of RAM. And that's what you need to have fun running the system with Vista or W7.

Bending group etiquette a bit further...
I'd say XP is even doubtful unless you put at least 512 Mb of RAM in it. You
don't say what CPU, or how much main memory, so nothing is sure. Win 2000 is
probably out unless you already have it. Not available any more.

PvdG42, What is this etiquette thing. Just curious. I am answering from the Windows Vista Forum.

Interesting, as I am only seeing this as being posted on the
dotnet.general forum, which is for programming questions.

Just a guess, but maybe the /net-general/ section of the url means that this
was pulled from dotnet.general. After looking at the site, that appears to
be what it is doing. It's kind of confusing....
