Which version of dotnet?

I run Secunia PSI to check for needed updates & it reports that my copy of
Microsoft.NET Framework 2.x is not up to date.
This surprised me as I know I have installed Framework 3. A quick check
shows that Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 are installed. Can I uninstall the
earlier versions?

I'm running XP Pro

TIA

There are service packs to 2.0 and 3.0. If you're running XP SP2 or later I
would install 3.5. It will update 2.0 and 3.0 as well as install itself.
If you want to desinstall a version of the framework, I would remove 1.1 as
fewer and fewer program are using it. If you have the disk space, leave 1.1
on as well.

Re: Which version of dotnet?

I would definately NOT uninstall 2.0
There are still programs that use this version.

Install version 3.5. It will update 2.0 and 3.0 with SP1 for each as well
as install some additional features. 3.5 depends on 2.0 SP1. Also, Secunia
PSI knows there is a service pack for 2.0 and 3.0, which is why it's
complaining.

The latest service pack was introduced with 3.5. There is also an SP for
3.0 for 3.5. You can run .NET 2.0 with 3.0 (without 3.5) without all of the
lastest patches (the latest service pack).
