reset to default wireless device name

hello,

i was wondering if anyone has an idea how to set the wireless nic device name back to original because mine had changed from device #2, device #3, etc. it happened when i was uninstalling the device and its drivers for several times at a row, maybe i was finally able to delete it but when i rebooted windows re-detected the device as i mentioned. i'm using an acer laptop with vista installed. the wireless nic is broadcom 43xx. i scanned through the registry using the device name but failed. is it stored elsewhere like a profile or ini file or something. hope anyone can shed a light. thanks
