| Newbie ![]() Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Re: connected to network, but not internet Apologies for the delay with this update, I've been overseas for a few weeks. The good news is that I no longer have this issue using my ISP's DNS servers (I manually set to the Yahoo DNS Servers previously). The settings I am using now are that Vista PC uses DHCP to get IP4 Address and DNS servers from my Linksys router which I have entered the DNS server addresses into manually rather than "discovering" from the ISP. I have still disbled IPv6 on my ethernet adapter. IMHO it is IPv6 that was causing the issue, I know my router doesn't support it natively (Someone else here mentioned linksys, mine's a wrt54g v3.1 f/w4.00.7) and perhaps this was the issue all along, or has that been tried already? I've been wrong before ![]() @Alrst22 - I see from your config that you have IPv6 enabled, perhaps you could try disabling it and let us know what happens. In case you don't know how to do this: Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center Select "Manage Network Connections" from the task list Right click the network connection you're using to connect to the net and select properties In the list of items under "This Connection uses the following items:" untick "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click ok. I know IPv6 is supposed to tunnel with IPv4 and it's not exactly progressive to turn it off but that's now the only "real" difference in the config between now and when I had issues. Any other ideas? Cheers, Marv |

| Newbie Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Re: connected to network, but not internet I am having the sames issues regardless of wired or wireless connection and regardless of network. It seems to be an issue with my computer. I can use the internet for approximately 30-60 minutes and then I won't be connected anymore. I unplug cablem modem & router and rarely this helps. I try to reconnect using the network and sharing area with no luck. I am required to reboot the computer and this usually works. At all times the network and sharing say that my connection to the network is active and shows that I can connect to the internet. However when I click on the world icon, it won't connect. Nor will it when i click on internet explorer. I have reset my IP addresses manually and this seemed to help, but I am having the same problem now as I was before. Please help me fix this issue. It is time consuming and really frustrating since I am completely dependent on this computer for work. Thank you |
