| Newbie Rep Power: 4 ![]() | connected to network, but not internet Hey everyone, I have found a great deal of help from looking on these forums before but this time I couldn't find the same problem, so I thought I would ask. I'm having problems with my home network. I find that I will be on the internet wirelessly with no problems, then all of a sudden I lose internet connection, but I still remain connected to the home network. I have tried disconnecting and re-connecting to the network, this usually doesn't help. Occasionally that will help, but then a couple minutes later, I have the same problem. I have tried running the diagnosis within the Network and Sharing Center. Sometimes it will tell me that it doesn't detect a problem and sometimes it will detect a problem. Then I try to reset the wireless adapter "Wireless Network Connection" and it will appear to have fixed it, and when I try to re-load the page it times out and then I lose internet connection again. The only thing that I have found that fixes the problem is to recycle power to the modem. (Pain in the ass!) The modem is connected to a desktop computer (I don't remember what it's running, but I know it's a version of XP) and there are multiple laptops within the house that connect to it wirelessly and I'm the only one running Vista and the only one having problems. The modem isn't very old, so I'm not thinking that it's the modem, so because I'm the only one having problems, I'm assuming it's a Vista thing. Anyone have any ideas?! Thanks, Emily Anttila |

Check if you have a network bridge. When the problem occurs, check if your laptop/PC is receiving any IP settings (run/cmd/ipconfig /all) |

| Newbie Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: connected to network, but not internet The problem is not resolved in SP1. I have exactly the same problem. All other computers has no problem using internet when my computer can't connect to internet, but i'm still connected to the network. I can transfer files to and from other computers while the internet work inproperly for me. |

I have had these same issues with wifi under vista but its not always its fault, wireless can have hundreds of issues.... Try changing channels because interference from microwaves, cordless phones and millions of other devices around your house can cause the dropouts because they all use the same channels, moving the transmitter/router for better coverage in some parts of the house and changing the type of Security used can help....It just denepnds on your hardware and the amount of junk in the airwaves in/around your house though. |

I just runned "ipconfig /all", what should happen except that ther is comming a list over all network connections? My network connection is wirebounded, not wireless. |

| Newbie Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: connected to network, but not internet There will be no internat at all if i set the DHCP settings manually(i have tried). The problem has just disappear without explanation. I just tested to set the DHCP settings manually, but the connection didn't work as good as it do with automatic DHCP settings. This problem will come back, it's just a question about when. |
