Location: UK | Very Slow Display of Network Folder If I click on the 'Network' folder, it takes a long time 1-2 minutes to display the other two computers on my network (one Vista Home Premium x32 and one Win XP Pro SP3). In the meanwhile, if I display the Network Map they are listed. ![]() I am running a Win XP Pro SP3 system under VMWare on the same PC and ironically if I click on My Network places node all the PCs are listed. I have disabled Remote Differential Compression. There must be a reason by Vista is taking so long compared to WinXP. I would be grateful for any pointers and/or suggestions on how to speed it up ![]() Last edited by log64; 05-12-2008 at 02:48 AM. Reason: spelling correction |

Location: UK | Re: Very Slow Display of Network Folder [SOLVED] ![]() I tried it and it made no difference which got me thinking. I mentioned that I am using VMWare. It had defined two network adapters that weren't being used. I disabled them and now the network details come up straight away. So I think the delay was down to VISTA trying to access the non-connected VMWare adapters. Again many thanks for the feedback which was instrumental in getting me to search for an alternate reason ![]() Last edited by log64; 05-12-2008 at 02:49 AM. Reason: Solution found |
