Have you got a router at home? If you are using your laptop while moving around, it depends what country you are living in and what part. Are there alot of hot spots where you live, do you live in the country?
There are cheap broadband cards available now that are mobile modems. (These are available in the UK).

Be a bit more precise on what you want to do and where you live.
