Good Strength wireless router

I am currently researching into upgrading the telecommunications scene in our house satrting with replacing my current router which is driving me insane. The signal strenght is totally erratic & it often wont reconnect to the internet after going into standby mode.

Belkin : Wireless G+ Modem Router

I am totally noob when it comes to wireless, do all routers produce basically the same strength signal? Are some more long range than others?

looking into wireless N, Belkin : N Wireless Router# but not sure if signal would be any better for my ps3 & wii which use standard G.

With regards to the signal strenght, i would suggest you to choose a router on which you can change eventually the antenna.
On some routers you may even change the power settings (wl -o txpwr)
I don't know the law regarding wifi in your country, but here in France it's limited around 30mw and with some routers (broadcom equipped) i can overclock them up to the max power they can accept (120mw roughly)
So i don't know the Belkin you use, but maybe you can power it up to meet your needs.

A really good wireless router would be the WRT54GL since they are cheap ($50 US), easy to use and have software comparable to commercial access points.

Once you update it with Firmware like DD-WRT it adds heaps of features worth thousands of dollars...It even lets you increase the wireless output voltage for better signal quality.

DD-WRT is free for everyone and works with other routers too but the WRT54GL is the easiest by far...

Its very easy to setup once you have DDWRT installed, There is a simple 3 step guide you must follow so you dont brick the router... So when you get one I will save you lots of time and help you install it.

A Draft-N router will have much less signal strength problems then an G router. The signal has significantly greater range and better crosstalk correction. Be aware however that most Draft-N routers are only single band, where Draft-N is dual band. Getting a true dual band router and PC adapter made a huge difference in my configuration at home.

Some routers have removable antenna's that can be swapped with higher gain, larger antenna's which can be helpful in certain areas. I switched my routers omni-directional antenna with a directional that pointed only in the direction of the house and picked up a lot of signal.

I actually went though 12 different wireless routers for my house before I found the one that worked best for me. (I spec wireless equipment for work, and am able to try a lot of different equipment.)

The one I am using now is a Linksys WRT-600N, and I'm extremely pleased with the performance. I usually operate at about 280+ MBs. It is however one of the more costly models.

where can I install this DD-WRT? you mean install into the pc will enhance the signal strength ?

Honestly you really should try out a WRT54GL running DD-WRT and you will be amazed with the features...
