Internet explorer not responding- help please

I downloaded some movies last week. Ever since, whenever i connect to the internet and open a browser window I get the message Internet explorer not responding. By default the browser goes to some site called megaclick.com ... instead of the default google site...and gets hanged. I am unable to access the net because of this and so I cannot get online help...Please help. This happens on my new laptop... please tell me what to do. I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to technical terms so please give me a step by step solution...
When I open internet explorer when I am not connected to the net it is slow but doesnt get hanged so often...

Thanks

Hi Msindiaa,

megaclick.com is spyware on your computer...You need to install Spybot Search & Destroy to remove the infection and stop it from collecting all your personal infomation ASAP

Download it from here: The home of Spybot-S&D!

Cheers

Humm, In browser, go to Tools, then go to Add ons, does the megaupload bar still shown in there? If yes deinstall from there.
If not, we'll do something else.

Re: Internet explorer not responding- help please

Not sure if this works in Vista, I know it works in XP Pro so give this a shot.

Right click on the "Start" button, then select explore, then there should be an address bar at the top saying "C:\Documents.....". If you don't see the address bar try clicking on view then toolbars and selecting the address bar. Once you get that address bar up, goto Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable in that address bar, download that browser and install it. It is very similar to IE but to some like myself is tons better. "Sorry I am not a IE fan"

Firefox is free and is a fully functional browser.

Give this a shot!

*Edit : some of this might not be exact as I am at work on a XP Pro machine, so I cannot go through the exact steps for you. *

Won't solve the problem as Hosts & Registry must be affected.

A simple way to disable it it's going through browser/tools to manage the addons.
Therefore if msindiaa deinstall it another way, the addon in the browser is surely not deinstall.
The megaupload bar is the worse bar i've seen on the whole Internet as it corrupts/affects important files, browsers and the registry.

Re: Internet explorer not responding- help please

Hey Msindiaa,

Yes you can download it on your laptop and run it offline on your other computer..you will only need the latest detection updates to run it offline aswell as the spybot program...

Detection Updates 14-5-2008 Download here: http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates...d_includes.exe

They are the only two files you need to download from your laptop to make it run on your other computer..

Cheers
Steven
