Slow Upload Speed

Hello,
Recently I noticed that my Internet's upload speed is EXTREMELY low. No problem with Download, I have almost a 3M Download. But i ran a speed test on Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test, and downlaod was fine, no problem, but i simply wouldn't upload. I tried sending an email with a small attachment, very slow, took like 30 minutes to add the attachement.

I have AVG 8.0 Internet Security, with everything turned on.
Here is my HijackThis Log.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Hijackthis is ok if you run a HP computer.
Did you install a prog before having this problem?
Try a speedtest with AV/Firewall disabled. (post the result)

Click the image to open in full size.

Seems that it was AVG 8.0 Internet Security that was causing it. Thanks!

Re: Slow Upload Speed

AVG has been missing trojan horses and causing connection issues with many I know. I removed removing it for Avast Pro and just using Windows Firewall and a decent router with security configured properly.

That's very unfortunate. I always liked AVG. Right now i downgraded to AVG 8.0 Free AntiVirus. I'm behind a router. Think that will do? Does your version of Avast! cost money?

Sorry for going off topic.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Avast Pro 4.8 is not that expensive and fantastic. Avast has a free version.

On your Router, you can enable MAC filtering, and other features to secure your computers. Get the latest firmware for the router. MAC filtering is simple. Each NIC has a MAC address. It is the ipconfig/all physical address. You enter your computer MAC addresses and only those computers can access the router. On the Windows firewall, advanced security can be set for only your subnet to gain access through the firewall for file and print sharing. It is not perfect, you can spoof it. However, most users will find fully open wireless routers to enter. Also, if you use wireless, turn on all the security to highest levels on the router and computers. Change the router IP address to something other than default. Use a 13 alphanumerical password for the router. Use passwords on all your computers and don't cache them in IE. Keep A/V software up to date. Use UAC to protect Vista. You can disable UAC for installing. Enable it for using.

Re: Slow Upload Speed

Or maybe you can try Avira, there is a special 6 months free for the premium version:
https://license.avira.com/en/promoti...tr05zwftftgnqr

I personally use Symantec endpoint protection (not Norton)
